This upgrade reduces noise by over 50% and produces much smoother surface quality on the hardest figured wood. The helical head is designed to perfectly replace the G6/63 cutter head for 6" jointers.

Our helical spiral cutterheads are well-machined by 5-axis CNC machines, resulting in excellent coaxiality. The tungsten carbide insert knives are made from 100% raw material, so compared with HSS knives, we provide you

The carbide inserts are set at an angle, offering a true shear cut, which virtually eliminates tear-outs and kick-backs.

Ridged Jointer Helical cutter head

Packaging was done well. Had to install all the cutters but no big deal. I had to watch a YouTube video from another manufacturer to see details for my jointer - no paper instructions either. Other than that the product works well - looking forward to using it more.

Cutterhead for Ridgid jointer

Helical cutterhead for Ridgid jointer.
This is a long write up, the short version is the vendor and the product are both great.
After much pondering I decided to order a cutterhead directly from China.
The order was placed April 12 and the cutterhead arrived April 18.
The box arrived in pristine condition and the contents inside were well padded.
FindBuy Tool sent tracking updates and once FedEx took over I looked there too.
The head is oily, but it wipes off easily without using anything other than shop towels.
The machining looks very good, all surfaces are smooth and well finished.
The bearings are pre-installed but the cutters are not.
I ordered 10 additional cutters that were shipped separately and arrived two weeks later.
The box contains:
30 cutters (more on this later).
33 screws
cutterhead
2 wrenches/drivers
Cutterhead dimensions:
9.375” total length
5.979” head length
2.406” max head diameter (no cutters installed)
1.385” / 1.578” bearing diameters
.624” pulley shaft diameter (fits pulley perfectly)
Installation was uneventful, I previously watched several videos on YouTube and knew what to expect.
After installing the cutterhead, it and the jointer tables are 0.002 out of square and I didn’t try to improve it.
I installed the cutters using the wrenches that are included.
The cutterhead is designed to align the cutters as they are tightened and I made no effort to help that.
I tightened them tight by hand but I did not use the GI Joe Kung Fu grip on them.
The description on FindBuy Tool says, “Producing a much better surface finish that reduces additional sanding thanks to the 30 tungsten carbide inserts.”
While 30 cutters are in the box, this is a 28 cutter cutterhead.
My bad for reading that and thinking it is a 30 cutter cutterhead.
The picture is accurate, all 4 rows have 7 cutters.
The cut width is barely under 6.1”.
The cut quality is excellent.
It really does cut quieter than the straight knife cutterhead.
Pushing wood through it feels smoother but takes the same effort.
Grain direction is less important with this cutterhead, but it is still a good idea to cut with the grain instead of against it.
Overall this was a great experience and if I ever need another cutterhead for another machine FindBuy Tool will be the first place I look.
