Helical Cutterhead for DeWalt DW735/DW735X/DW735-XE Wood Planer, 2 Rows

I had some doubts given this cutter head was half the cost of the competitors.. But so far so amazing! I have been planning 13" wide hard maple boards with it. these boards were killing my straight knives in less than 20 minutes per knife edge. I have been using the Helical Cutterhead with this same hard maple on and off for 4 weeks now and its still cutting as well as when it was installed!

Its also true that the planer is much quieter during cutting operations.. Doesn't help with the universal motor howl LOL but cutting noise is greatly reduced.

Only thing I would complain about is the need to torque the screws as most of us wood workers probably don't have a torque wrench or screw driver LOL I know I didn't

So far so good: noise level is a big difference compared to the single three blades and it’s is quicker can take of a bit more at a time,👍

I started planing two cords of rough cut red oak with my new DEWALT 735. I wasn't long (multiple passes of 200 linear feet, 6 to 10" wide) before the blades dulled and the reset switch wouldn't stay on. I replaced the reset switch and installed a helical cutterhead. I have now run multiple 4 hour sessions with hundreds of linear feet with no interruptions and a very smooth result. Well worth the cost and time to change over. If you are working with hardwoods, it is a must.

2 row cutter head is perfect for my DeWalt planer. The installation was not so difficult. The customer service is very responsive. Highly recommended.

After reading others reviews, I was confident enough to buy this two row head. Shipping was fast, a little faster than their estimate. It arrived in Michigan from China in a little over seven days. The only other helical head I have experience with is in my jointer and I love it. This head is absolutely high quality. While doing some research, I read many reviews across the internet that suggested you needed a four row cutter head for a really smooth finish. This is absolutely not true. The finish left on the boards is way better than the aftermarket straight knives I had been using, so don’t believe you need four rows. In fact, I’d suggest you stay away from the four row heads for your 735 and get this two row head. Even with this two row head you will have to take much smaller cuts or you will trip your breaker on the planer. I have no idea how anyone can make the four row heads work. I think the dewalt 735 is way to under powered for that. Overall the longer life of the inserts far out weighs taking less per pass. I have run hard maple, walnut and ash through the head, all with excellent results. I expect to get several years out of on side of the inserts before rotating them. It will be so nice to have to constantly deal with dull knives. This company is the real deal!

I received 2 row cutter head very fast. It is a 2 row helical head for dewalt 735 planer. When I first seen the 2 row my first hope was that it would take less horse power. Yes it takes less then Byrd or other heads I have tested. Second thing because of the spacing of cutters and R150 curve the lines people complaint about are not as deep and there is less of them.The head planes wood very smooth and planes poplar wood even better the any other head I have tested. I tested it with maple, red oak, walnut, and poplar. It does a great job and I can mill faster now because I can take more of a cut then with byrd 4 row 40 bits and any other head. Reason is takes less amps so It does not trip breaker as easy as the other heads. Very nice head - quality is great. The problem with a lot of wood workers think more cutters are better - not true with the 2 row head. From my test It does a better job. Thanks FINDYOU Tools for selling a great head It is the first 2 row head I ever seen. I have been doing wood work for over 30 years.

I compared this to the findbuytool 4 row and the other more expensive name brands as a replacement for the OEM 3 blade cutter head when my blades were leaving streaks. Install was straight forward with the video - but they don't show their removing the blade spring retainer (left side only). This should be done after removing the dust hood. This allows you to move the blade assembly. Also, there was a recommendation to use screw glue or loctite to hold cutters... I'd probably skip this next time. I added too much or had squeezing and it caused some cutters not to engage appropriately. I was initially getting 10+ scoops and streaks... I ran a 13" board and adjusted or rotated individual cutters a few at a time and reran the board at 1/16 to 1/8. If you take off the dust hood and sight down at the scoops and lines left on the board, you can tell which are not seated correctly. After 4-5 passes I had eliminated most lines. There are still some micro streaks, but the planer is significantly quieter now. I don't plane thick cuts, so I've never bogged the machine down with cutter heads or blades. I can't yet comment on longevity of the cutters. 3 stars bc easy to install and quiet, but was getting cleaner plane cut with blades. On images, I've highlighted the scoop and lines with pencil markings... they decrease with each run. shipping was quick and came with two extra cutters.

I never received my order and have never received a refund. I emailed customer service and they responded that it's the shipping companies fault. However, I didn't purchase it from the shipping company. (FedEx)
